“Delulu” Is Now an Official English Word — No, You’re Not Dreaming

TikTok girlies, your anthem just went academic. The word “delulu” has officially been added to the English Dictionary — proof that internet slang isn’t just for your For You Page, it’s shaping the way we actually speak.

According to McIntosh, one of the dictionary’s editors, “We only add words where we think they’ll have staying power. Internet culture is changing the English language, and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture.” Translation: being delulu really is the solulu.

But wait — there’s more word drama. Alongside delulu, we’re getting new entries like tradwife (housewife, but make it aesthetic), broligarchy (because men really do love a power circle), and the internet’s favourite inside joke turned word, skibidi (straight from the surreal YouTube series Skibidi Toilet).

From viral sounds to fashion micro-trends, TikTok continues to infiltrate every part of culture — including the language we use daily. One thing’s clear: if a phrase is popping off online, chances are it could end up in the dictionary. So… what’s next? Will rizz graduate from slang to scholar-approved too?
