Mahila Intimates Asks: What If This Was Your Last Summer?

If the world was ending tomorrow, what would you wear tonight?

That’s the quiet chaos behind Mahila Intimates’ new short film, What If This Was Your Last Summer? — a visually messy, emotionally charged ode to girlhood, shot through the lens of female freedom and end-of-the-world nihilism. Directed by London-based filmmaker Jasmina Wood, the piece captures that unmistakable feeling of being 23, slightly unhinged, and unbothered — lipstick smudged, phone dying, heart full.

Mahila

Created entirely by an all-woman team, the film follows the Mahila girls as they sprint through the streets, laughing, dancing, and living like the night will never end. But in true Gen Z contradiction, the party’s joy sits right beside despair: another girl, alone at home, doomscrolling as the world metaphorically collapses.

“I made this film because I’ve felt paralyzed by social media — by the pressure to be seen, to perform, to keep up,” says Wood. “Watching the Mahila girls online made me realize they’ve built a space for women to own their energy, their sexiness, their chaos. It made me want to celebrate that.”

It’s not glossy perfection. It’s sweat, tears, and glitter — the kind of real that feels rare. What If This Was Your Last Summer? isn’t asking you to post the moment. It’s asking you to live it.

Mahila Intimates, known for blending sensuality with self-ownership, uses this project to remind us what freedom really means — especially for women whose bodies and choices are constantly policed. It’s a manifesto disguised as a night out.

So if this really was your last summer, what would you do? Run barefoot through London streets? Dance until your eyeliner melts? Maybe, finally, stop scrolling and start living.
