Adidas Launches Originals Sport Collection for Women With Tate McRae

Adidas is proving that women no longer have to choose between performance and personal style. The sportswear giant has unveiled Originals Sport, a new women’s training collection that merges technical performance with the unmistakable design language of its Originals heritage.

Launching online and in stores, the collection is fronted by singer Tate McRae, Argentine pop star Emilia Mernes, and volleyball standout Harper Murray, a campaign lineup that reflects the brand’s vision of blending athletic performance with everyday style.

Inspired by the growing popularity of vintage sportswear, Originals Sport takes cues from the iconic Superstar tracksuit while introducing contemporary, feminine silhouettes. Signature Trefoil branding and the classic three stripes are reimagined across sports bras, leggings, tank tops, onesies, jackets, and layering essentials designed to move effortlessly from workouts to everyday life.

While the collection embraces retro aesthetics, performance remains at its core. Each piece incorporates adidas’ proprietary technologies, including Climacool for breathable ventilation, AdiSoft for enhanced comfort, and Lycra Adaptiv for flexibility and responsive movement. The result is activewear that supports training without compromising on style.

According to Lisann Costello, Adidas’ Global Vice President of Sportswear and Training Partnerships, the collection responds directly to changing consumer expectations.

“For years there has been an expectation that serious training was defined by a particular uniform,” Costello said. “The new Originals Sport collection is a direct response to a growing desire from women wanting workout wear that reflects their personal style without compromising on performance.”

She added that the collection was intentionally designed to fit seamlessly into everyday life.

“Whether someone is training, heading to meet friends afterward or moving through a busy day, they want product that can support them while still feeling like part of their personal style.”

Costello also explained the thinking behind the campaign’s cast, saying McRae, Mernes, and Murray each represent the balance between fashion and athleticism that defines the collection.

The launch arrives during a strong commercial period for Adidas. Following what the company described as an all-Adidas FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, CEO Bjorn Gulden revealed the brand expects around €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) in World Cup-related sales after selling four times more jerseys than during the previous tournament.

Priced between $40 and $80, the Adidas Originals Sport collection reflects the continued evolution of activewear, where technical innovation, versatility, and personal expression are becoming just as important as performance itself.
