Cecilie Bahnsen Just Made the ASICS Sneaker Bloom

ASICS and Cecilie Bahnsen are back and this time, they’re putting flowers on the sneaker.

The Copenhagen designer has reunited with ASICS SportStyle for the latest chapter of their collaboration, introducing the GEL-KINETIC FR, a sneaker inspired by the movement of flowers, from falling petals to growing stems.

Available in “Piedmont Grey Silver” and “Black Coffee,” the design mixes ASICS’ technical construction with Bahnsen’s unmistakably feminine aesthetic.

Think micro-textured surfaces, glossy finishes, embossed floral details, flower charms, beads and flower-shaped eyelets. Her signature drawcord lacing adds another recognisable touch.

The sneaker also keeps things functional, with ASICS’ sculptural GEL heel for cushioning, alongside adjustable Velcro straps and a padded half tongue.

For the campaign, artist and photographer Isabelle Wenzel captures the shoe through movement and abstraction, using Copenhagen’s open-air theatre architecture as the backdrop.

The GEL-KINETIC FR arrives September 12 via ASICS, giving sneaker lovers another reason to stop and smell the roses.
