What happens when a filmmaker stops creating worlds for the screen and starts designing the world around you?

Luca Guadagnino and architect and production designer Stefano Baisi are answering that question with their new collaboration with Zara Home.

Called Baisi Guadagnino, the collection transforms the duo’s shared cinematic eye into furniture, lighting, tableware, textiles, scents and accessories — creating what Zara Home describes as an “atlas of desire.”

With around 200 pieces, the collection moves between interiors and fashion, with a separate clothing line for Zara also part of the collaboration.

The aesthetic is unmistakably Italian and unapologetically glamorous. Furniture, materials, colour, lighting and objects are treated almost like characters in a film, with each piece helping to create a particular mood.

That connection makes sense. Guadagnino and Baisi have spent nearly a decade collaborating, building visual worlds together through cinema. Now, instead of designing a set that disappears after filming, they are creating objects that can become part of everyday life.

A chair, a lamp, a scent or even the colour of a wall becomes more than decoration. It becomes part of the story of the person living with it.

The collection launches globally on September 26, with selected Zara Home stores and the brand’s online platform getting the first look.

Basically, Guadagnino is asking us to stop treating our homes like backgrounds.

They can be the movie, too.
