Ebuka Just Wore a Newspaper-Print Suit Inspired by ’70s Icon Prince Nico Mbarga

You know the drill: Ebuka shows up, fashion lights up, and we’re left Googling the references.

On night two of Big Brother Naija Season 10’s opening weekend, our forever host came through with another nostalgic serve—this time nodding to African highlife royalty Prince Nico Mbarga.

His look? A full newspaper-print two-piece suit with big 1970s energy. We’re talking wide-leg trousers, a structured vest, and flared-sleeve white shirt underneath—all screaming disco-era drama but with that clean-cut Ebuka polish. It’s like if Studio 54 met Alaba market on a Sunday afternoon, and honestly? We’d go.

But it’s not just about the fit. To complete the tribute, he accessorised with oversized black sunnies and held a vinyl record of Prince Nico Mbarga & Rocafil Jazz—because when Ebuka references, he commits. And yes, that’s the Prince Nico Mbarga of “Sweet Mother” fame, aka one of the most iconic African tracks to ever exist.

Let’s not forget: this follows his two standout looks from Night One—a denim-and-pink trousers set that paid tribute to Nollywood legend Nkem Owoh, and a traditional pink agbada honouring King Sunny Ade. Both were reimagined by Nigerian designer ATAFO, and yesterday’s look keeps that same thoughtful energy.
