NikeSKIMS has built much of its identity around clothes that follow the body. Now, the brand is experimenting with pieces that move away from it.
For its latest release, the Kim Kardashian-backed partnership is introducing outerwear for the first time, bringing oversized jackets, relaxed trousers and winter-ready textures into a wardrobe previously defined by close-fitting performance essentials.
The shift is most noticeable in the new Varsity Collection. Plush Sherpa jackets and vests bring warmth without abandoning the brand’s sporty aesthetic, while water-repellent nylon gives cropped jackets and hooded parkas a more architectural shape. Wide-leg trousers add another dimension, creating roomier proportions that contrast with NikeSKIMS’ signature fitted pieces.
That contrast is precisely what makes the collection interesting. A sculpting bra beneath a voluminous jacket, or seamless knitwear paired with relaxed trousers, offers a different way to approach activewear without losing the functionality at the heart of the collaboration.
And there is colour to consider. University Red cuts through the collection’s more subdued shades, appearing across apparel and accessories, including the NikeSKIMS Rift Satin. The footwear style also arrives in Shadow Brown and the returning Silt Red.
Existing favourites such as Stretch Knit, Airy and Performance Cotton Blend remain part of the offering, joined by new bras and seamless designs.
The new collection arrives October 22 at 10 a.m. ET through Nike and SKIMS.
