Tinashe has always dressed like she’s one eight-count away from a fashion moment. The singer, dancer, and certified DIY queen of Y2K-meets-streetwear energy just dropped her first-ever fashion collection with Urban Outfitters, and it’s giving main character with movement.

The 15-piece line, aptly named “1st Position,” is a wink to her dance roots — the place where every routine starts, but also a metaphor for beginning on your own terms. “I wanted to create something that balances creativity and comfort,” she says. Translation: gear you can stretch, sweat, and stunt in.
This isn’t your average “celeb x retailer” situation. Tinashe didn’t just slap her name on a hoodie; she built this drop from the ground up. Think convertible tees that can be cropped, tied, or off-the-shoulder depending on your mood. Think satin durags, slick sets, and cleverly cut silhouettes that look just as good mid-choreography as they do mid-selfie.
She even baked in her personal style hacks — like the bikini-top layering trick that’s now a design feature. Every detail feels like a remix of her wardrobe: practical enough for the studio, cool enough for your feed. “It incorporates the essence of hip hop and fashion — expression and functionality,” she explains.

At its core, “1st Position” isn’t just about the clothes. It’s an invitation to experiment. To not overthink it. To wear your confidence out loud. “Be unafraid,” Tinashe says — and somehow, the whole collection feels like that energy personified.
Available from October 16 in select stores and online at Urban Outfitters, “1st Position” is for the dancers, the dreamers, and everyone who knows that fashion hits harder when it moves.
