In a season defined by skill, determination, and resilience, 18-year-old Nigerian-American race driver Ugo Ugochukwu has clinched the 2026 Formula Regional Oceania Championship in New Zealand, securing his place among motorsport’s rising stars.
The son of renowned Nigerian fashion model Oluchi Onweagba and Italian designer Luca Orlandi, Ugochukwu finished the season with four race victories, multiple podiums, and a total of 326 points, edging out Audi Formula 1 junior Freddie Slater by 15 points. Despite a technical setback during qualifying at the final weekend, the young driver showcased his trademark consistency to seal the championship in style.

“Team work makes the dream work. Thank you to my core team, my IG Family for the constant support, and the entire organisation of CTFROT. I am, because of you,” Ugochukwu wrote on Instagram, reflecting the collaborative spirit behind his triumph.
Dominance on the Track
Ugochukwu’s victory caps a remarkable season where he finished on the podium in every round and ranked outside the top 10 only twice across 15 races. His journey to New Zealand was paved with early success in karting, including multiple titles such as the CIK-FIA European Championship – OKJ, before advancing to single-seater competitions in British, Italian, and UAE F4. He also claimed the Euro 4 Championship, placed third in Italian F4, and concluded 2024 with a victory at the Macau Grand Prix, highlighting his versatility and competitive edge.

Heritage and High-Performance Pedigree
Born in New York, Ugochukwu represents a fusion of cultures and excellence. His mother, Oluchi Onweagba, is an international modeling icon, while his father, Luca Orlandi, is celebrated in Italian fashion circles. With this legacy, Ugochukwu blends precision, style, and charisma both on and off the track.
