Vans x Better With Age Launches DIY Sneaker Collaboration
Vans

Vans is embracing individuality in its latest collaboration with Los Angeles-based vintage luxury label Better With Age. The new capsule takes a nostalgic approach to skate culture while encouraging wearers to transform each pair into a completely personal creation.

Built around the idea that fashion only gets better with time, the collaboration reimagines two classic Vans silhouettes through a vintage-inspired lens, blending worn-in aesthetics with customizable details designed to celebrate self-expression.

Leading the drop is the LX Authentic 44, arriving in a sun-faded navy colorway paired with a naturally yellowed sole that gives the sneaker an intentionally aged appearance. The weathered finish channels the feeling of a perfectly broken-in skate shoe, capturing the authenticity of vintage streetwear culture.

For fans of high-top silhouettes, the collection also introduces the LX Half-Cab 33 in sleek black suede. Elevated with leather tassel detailing and dual-branded accents, the sneaker balances retro skate heritage with modern luxury-inspired touches.

What truly separates this collaboration from traditional sneaker releases is its interactive DIY element. The collection launches alongside vintage-inspired iron-on patches and customizable accessories, allowing each wearer to personalize their sneakers into one-of-one pieces. The concept perfectly merges Vans’ rebellious creativity with Better With Age’ appreciation for reinvention and restoration.

To celebrate the launch, shoppers visiting Dover Street Market on release day will have the opportunity to customize their sneakers on-site. For everyone else, the collection encourages experimentation at home whether through patches, beads, or additional personal embellishments.

The collaboration reflects a growing shift toward customization within sneaker culture, where individuality and storytelling are becoming just as important as the shoes themselves.

The Vans x Better With Age collection launches at Dover Street Market on May 15, followed by a global release via the Better With Age website later this month.
