And Just Like That… It’s Over. The SATC Sequel Ends With a Whimper, Not a Manolo

After three rollercoaster seasons of Big goodbyes, podcast dramas, and… Che Díaz, HBO has officially called time on And Just Like That… The Sex and the City revival is bowing out — and honestly, it’s about time. Showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed the end this week, sharing that while writing the Season 3 finale, it “became clear” that it was the perfect moment to stop. Translation: they saw the group chat memes and the dwindling views. Let’s be real — this wasn’t giving Season 6 energy. To soften the blow, the final season has been extended from 10 to 12 episodes and will end with a two-part finale. A farewell tour, if you will. Launched in 2021, And Just Like That… attempted to pick up where SATC left off: Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte navigating life (and questionable new wardrobes) in their 50s. Samantha was technically still in the group — if you count one emoji-heavy text thread and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from Kim Cattrall in Season 2. The reboot also tried to modernise the original’s legacy, bringing in a more diverse cast (we see you, Seema and LTW), tackling everything from grief and gender identity to TikTok-era dating.
