After months of speculation, it’s official: Lefties is making its long-awaited debut in the United Kingdom.
The value-focused fashion and lifestyle brand, owned by Inditex, will open its first standalone UK store at Liverpool ONE at the end of August, marking a significant milestone in the retailer’s international expansion.
Liverpool is only the beginning. Lefties has already confirmed two additional openings, with a Lakeside, Essex store scheduled for October, followed by a Metrocentre, Gateshead location in November, just ahead of the festive shopping season.
Originally launched as Zara’s outlet concept, Lefties has evolved into a standalone brand offering affordable fashion across womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, accessories, sportswear, beauty, and homeware. Today, it competes directly with budget retail giants like Primark while maintaining Inditex’s reputation for trend-led design.
The UK will become Lefties’ 20th market, expanding the brand’s international footprint to 215 stores across 20 countries.
Despite the expansion, Lefties says it is taking a measured approach to the British market. Global Director Xavier Ruz explained that the company plans to learn from its first three UK stores before accelerating its rollout.
The expansion forms part of a broader growth strategy that has seen Lefties strengthen its leadership team, introduce a home collection, and target significant international growth over the next five years. Earlier this year, the brand also returned to France after more than a decade and entered the German market with its first store in Düsseldorf.
Customers visiting the new UK locations can also expect a technology-driven shopping experience. The stores will feature advanced self-checkout systems and robotic stock-sorting technology designed to streamline operations and improve the customer experience.
Financially, the brand continues to gain momentum. Lefties generated €644.8 million in revenue during the fiscal year ending January 2025, representing a 17.4% increase compared to the previous year.
While rumours have linked Lefties to potential flagship locations on Oxford Street and Westfield London, the retailer has yet to confirm any future London openings.
For now, British shoppers eager for affordable, trend-led fashion won’t have long to wait, with the countdown to Lefties’ UK debut officially underway.
