Barry Keoghan is making time for skincare. The Oscar-nominated Irish actor recently underwent two sessions of a luxury facial treatment in London, as his previous comments about online criticism continue to draw attention to the pressures of celebrity beauty standards.

The 34-year-old Saltburn actor visited celebrity facialist Nilam Holmes for Xerf, a non-surgical skin-tightening procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to target facial firmness. The two sessions reportedly cost approximately £4,500, or $6,000.

Developed in South Korea, Xerf uses controlled heat beneath the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of skin laxity without needles or surgery.

Holmes, who has worked with Keoghan on film sets, shared details of the treatment and praised the condition of his skin. The actor also described the experience as relaxing and therapeutic, speaking about the importance of caring for yourself both inside and out.

The appointment comes amid wider conversations about the harsh criticism Keoghan has faced over his appearance.

Following his highly publicised split from singer Sabrina Carpenter, the actor deactivated his Instagram account in December 2024, citing online harassment and personal attacks.

He has since spoken publicly about how hurtful comments concerning his looks have affected him, revealing that the criticism made him question his place in the film industry. He also expressed concern about his son, Brando, eventually encountering the abuse directed at him online.

While Keoghan has not publicly linked his decision to undergo Xerf to the harassment, the two developments highlight an uncomfortable reality of celebrity culture: public figures are often subjected to relentless judgement over their appearance, regardless of their professional achievements.

The conversation is particularly relevant as men’s participation in skincare and non-surgical aesthetic treatments becomes increasingly visible.

Away from the beauty headlines, Keoghan is preparing for one of his most anticipated roles yet. He is set to portray Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes’ forthcoming Beatles film project, adding another major production to a career that has already earned him international recognition.
