If there were ever a red carpet designed for a true fashion spectacle, it would be the premiere of a film titled Couture. And in Paris tonight, Angelina Jolie delivered exactly that stepping onto the red carpet in a shimmering embellished naked dress that captured every flash of the cameras.

Given the film’s fashion-driven premise, Jolie could have easily leaned into an avant-garde concept. Instead, she departed from her signature minimalist “quiet luxury” aesthetic and embraced a daring sheer gown that balanced elegance with drama. Metallic beadwork scattered across a transparent mesh base reflected the lights from every angle, while a jagged asymmetric hemline introduced a subtle punk-inspired edge. Crystallized fringe cascading from the sleeves heightened the movement and theatricality of the look.
To ground the shimmering ensemble, Jolie paired the gown with sharp black pointy-toe heels and styled her honey-blonde hair in softly tousled waves swept to one side allowing the dress to remain the focal point.
Directed by Alice Winocour, Couture stars Jolie as Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker navigating a breast cancer diagnosis while directing a high-stakes fashion-house production during Paris Fashion Week. The film also follows the intertwined stories of Ada, a South Sudanese model, and Angèle, a makeup artist, each confronting personal challenges behind the glamour of the runway.

The role marks Jolie’s continued return to the screen following a brief hiatus. After portraying opera icon Maria Callas in Maria (2024), she is also set to appear in the upcoming adaptation of Anxious People alongside Aimee Lou Wood.
Couture carries deep personal significance for the actress, whose mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died of ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Reflecting on the project, Jolie described it as “such a personal film,” adding that it felt “so private… probably the one film that doesn’t feel like a film.”
