IGBO-SISUN is changing the fashion world with its new clothing line, “The Seat of Sovereignty.” Founded by designer Moses Aina, this New York City brand mixes African history with beautiful, everyday luxury clothes. The new collection is made to celebrate Black women, their power, and their history.
The ideas for these clothes come from a famous story from the year 1622. A Portuguese governor tried to make Queen Nzinga of Angola sit on the floor during an important meeting while he sat in a high chair. Queen Nzinga refused to let him look down on her. Instead, she had her assistants bend down to form a human chair so she could sit at eye level with the governor. Moses Aina uses this powerful story to show that women should always stand tall, take up space, and build their own paths when others try to leave them out.
This collection turns deep historical meanings into easy-to-wear, everyday fashion. One of the main designs is a beautiful pattern based on traditional braided hair. This design honors Black hair as a symbol of royalty and family history. The clothing line includes sharp matching sets, smooth mini dresses, comfortable graphic t-shirts, and relaxed trousers. Everything comes in rich royal purple and soft neutral colors that fit perfectly into any closet.

“The Seat of Sovereignty” is now available for limited pre-order. You can find the pieces directly on the IGBO-SISUN website, and see the stunning campaign photos on their official Instagram page.
