Meryl Streep Wears Prada for The Devil Wears Prada 2 Premiere

Sometimes the assignment really is that simple. For the Seoul premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Meryl Streep leaned fully into character, stepping out in custom Prada, a fitting choice for the woman behind the formidable Miranda Priestly.

Held in Seoul, the premiere saw Streep deliver a commanding red carpet moment in a sharply tailored, devil-red power suit. The double-breasted jacket featured an exaggerated collar that subtly framed the shoulders, while wide-leg, slightly flared trousers created a clean, elongated silhouette. A contrasting brown belt cinched the waist, adding an unexpected break to the monochrome look.

Though custom-made, the suit draws clear inspiration from Prada’s archives. A similar crimson look appeared on the Fall 2009 runway, where Miuccia Prada explored themes of restraint and feminine strength through structured tailoring and minimal color palettes. At the time, the collection’s rare bursts of red stood out against an otherwise muted lineup, an aesthetic that feels newly relevant here.

The moment also marks a subtle shift in fashion’s relationship with the Devil Wears Prada universe. While the original film kept much of the industry at arm’s length, this new chapter sees both Anna Wintour and Prada itself leaning into the narrative. In fact, Wintour recently appeared alongside Streep on the cover of Vogue, both dressed in Prada blurring the lines between fiction and fashion reality even further.

It’s a full-circle moment for a franchise long tied to the industry it mirrors. And with Streep quite literally wearing Prada, the message feels clearer than ever: this time, fashion is fully in on the story.
