After nearly four decades of telling us to “Just Do It,” Nike has gone and flipped the script. The sportswear giant just unveiled its latest campaign with a slogan makeover that asks a different kind of question: “Why Do It?”

Now before you clutch your Air Forces in confusion, hear us out. This isn’t Nike losing its edge — it’s Nike speaking directly to a new generation. Instead of framing success as a rigid outcome, the brand is asking young athletes to dig deep and figure out what drives them in the first place. It’s less “push through the pain” and more “find your why.”
In the words of Nicole Graham, Nike’s EVP & Chief Marketing Officer: “With ‘Why Do It?,’ we’re igniting that spark for a new generation, daring them to step forward with courage, trust in their own potential and discover the greatness that unfolds the moment they decide to begin.” (Chills, honestly.)
The campaign film brings the message to life with a global roster of athletes, including tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz, basketball icon LeBron James, breakout star Caitlin Clark, and tennis powerhouse Qinwen Zheng. Together, they show us the unpolished side of sports — the sweat, the missed shots, the doubts — reminding us that trying counts and failing is part of the process. As Caitlin puts it: “Every time you step on the court and compete, you have a chance to be great.”

Whether you’re chasing Olympic dreams, lacing up for your first 5K, or just attempting to survive a Monday morning spin class — the point is, starting matters. Nike’s message is clear: don’t just move, move with meaning.
Check out the campaign stills above and keep an eye on Nike’s site for what’s next. One thing’s for sure: we’re all rethinking our “why.”
