Sydney Sweeney is stepping out of Euphoria’s glitter-lit chaos and into Hollywood history — trading Cassie Howard’s tear-streaked breakdowns for the icy allure of Kim Novak.

At the AFI Fest premiere of her new drama Christy, the actress revealed she’s just two days away from wrapping what might be Euphoria’s final chapter. “It’s mostly the same crew, so it feels like going back to family,” she said, visibly emotional. “I grew up with them. I was 20 when I did the pilot.” Three years and countless memes later, Sweeney’s farewell feels like the end of an era — for both her and the show’s devoted audience.
HBO has already confirmed season three will be Euphoria’s last, but in true HBO fashion, Sweeney kept things cryptic: “I cannot confirm any information.” Jacob Elordi added to the mystery, describing the new season as “liberating and cinematic,” then admitting he barely knows what’s happening because “it’s like FBI files.”
But Sweeney’s next move is anything but secretive — it’s cinematic gold. The actress is set to star as Kim Novak in Scandalous, the upcoming biopic directed by Colman Domingo. The film will explore Novak’s taboo romance with Sammy Davis Jr. (played by Industry’s David Jonsson) in 1957 Hollywood — a love story shadowed by racial tension and studio politics.
“I’m going to meet with her, work with movement and dialect coaches, and watch all her films,” Sweeney said, her excitement almost bubbling through the screen. It’s a role that demands transformation — and after seeing how she’s navigated everything from The White Lotus to Anyone But You, we have no doubt she’ll bring Novak’s quiet intensity to life.
