Thanks to this frigid winter, even East Coast minimalists have had to lean maximalist with their layering. The same rules don’t apply in Los Angeles and Anya Taylor-Joy just proved it.
Spotted leaving the San Vicente Bungalows in L.A. with her husband Malcolm McRae, Taylor-Joy embraced transitional dressing with a chic, after-dark look that nodded to ’90s minimalism while expertly mixing textures.

Her light brown knit shrug-cardigan hybrid featured fur trim along the cuffs and wrapped softly around her back, adding dimension without bulk. Underneath, she kept things classic with a white ribbed tank — simple, clean, and timeless.
The real texture play happened below the waist. Taylor-Joy paired the cozy knit with a glossy aqua-blue silk satin pencil skirt, creating a striking contrast between matte and sheen. Dark olive square-front lady pumps grounded the look, adding a subtle earth-toned balance to the cool-toned skirt.
Los Angeles rarely calls for the heavy winter armor required in snow-covered New York or rain-soaked London. Taylor-Joy leaned into that freedom, opting for breathable layers instead of full cold-weather regalia.

That said, she has already delivered a masterclass in winter dressing this season. While in New York, she attended a Tiffany & Co. event in an elegant wrap coat from Max Mara layered over a mini dress by Dilara Findikoglu. She later stepped out in another cozy wrap coat with a skirt and ballet flats while exploring the city. In Paris, she wore a dramatic scarf coat inspired by Paul Poiret to Jonathan Anderson’s Dior Men show.
For those currently braving another snowstorm in New York, Taylor-Joy’s latest ensemble serves as a stylish reminder: transitional season dressing is closer than it feels and texture-mixing is the move.
