The iconic adidas Firebird tracksuit has received an unexpected makeover, courtesy of designer Jenna, who has recreated the sportswear staple entirely in latex.
Created as an experimental piece for her emerging label JENNAX, the design replicates the familiar ribbed texture of a traditional tracksuit while replacing soft knit fabric with sculpted, body-hugging rubber.
Interestingly, the technique began with an ordinary hardware-store find. Jenna used a ribbed shelf liner as a mould, pouring liquid latex over its surface to recreate the appearance of knitted fabric. Once cured, the material was shaped into a fitted tracksuit featuring adidas’ signature Three Stripes.
The result plays with perception. From a distance, the outfit resembles classic sportswear, but its glossy finish and sculptural fit reveal something entirely different.

Rather than a commercial release, Jenna describes the piece as a design exercise exploring the creative identity of JENNAX ahead of its anticipated ready-to-wear debut in November.
By transforming an everyday athletic uniform into an experimental fashion statement, the designer challenges expectations of how familiar clothing should look, feel and function.
It may not be available to buy, but Jenna’s latex Firebird makes one thing clear: even the most recognisable sportswear classics can still be reinvented.
